We are looking for a Narrative Designer who can help us bring our next big game story to life. The Narrative Designer is a key contributor to the execution of a game story and development of narrative systems in multiplayer mode. The Narrative Designer will collaborate closely with other designers, developers, and artists across the studio to help ensure seamless integration of story and gameplay. Under supervision of the Director, you will: Design and document interactive narrative systems to achieve the projects’ storytelling goals. Define means and techniques to execute narrative goals through gameplay systems and mission design. Work closely with art team to drive environmental storytelling and narrative goals through the visuals of the game. Implement narrative content in engine according to project standards, including guidance on how to best integrate narrative content (speech, text) in the systems. Write and keep up to date documentation for tools and gameplay systems. Meeting with the team virtually to complete tasks. You will be expected to work closely with other designers, developers, and artists across the studio to help ensure seamless integration of story and gameplay.
Responsibilities
– Under supervision of the Lead Narrative Designer, design, document and implement interactive narrative systems to achieve the projects’ storytelling goals in both Campaign and Multiplayer modes.
– Collaborate with game designers and engineers to execute on narrative goals through gameplay systems and mission design.
– Work closely with art team to drive environmental storytelling and narrative goals through the visuals of the game.
– Implement narrative content in engine according to project standards, including Live Ops.
– Provide feedback and guidance on how to best manage and integrate narrative content (speech, text) in the systems.
– Write and keep up to date documentation for tools and gameplay systems.
Qualifications
– You have experience with a major game engine and a firm knowledge of visual scripting. Unity 3D experience is a plus.
– You enjoy rapid prototyping to test the feasibility of new gameplay features and tools.
– You have in-depth knowledge of industry trends in interactive storytelling, with a genuine interest in creatively advancing the medium
You have an interest in becoming an expert in the narrative tone and style at Blimey
You have experience in leading development on a multi-person team.
Experience working with external creatives and partners.
Requirements
You have shipped at least 1 (one) title in a technical design role (such as narrative, mission design, level design)
You have experience with a major game engine and a firm knowledge of visual scripting.
Games experience a strong plus. B.A. is preferred but equivalent work experience will suffice
